The actions of the Office start with prevention, through registration of patents and copyrights in Brazil and all Latin American countries; assistance in analyzing and drafting licensing, distribution and franchising agreements; analysis of software distribution and use licenses; transfer of technology and cost-sharing agreements; and analysis of the intellectual property aspects of mergers, acquisitions and other corporate operations.

Castro Barros also has extensive experience in protecting clients’ rights by fighting in the administrative and judicial sphere against piracy, falsification and plagiarism. The Office not only takes vigorous action in cases of copyright, trademark and patent infringement, but also in cases of breach of trade secrecy, unfair competition, misleading advertising and contractual disputes.
